This role will combine traditional athletic communications functions with a skill set that requires you to build relationships with student-athletes in order to amplify their personal brand, the program’s brand and the Notre Dame Athletics brand. You will help lead your team’s social media accounts, creating engaging, in-moment content to connect fans with the student-athletes, coaches, and teams.
As Notre Dame’s Senior Associate Athletics Communications Director, you will be a resource to your student-athletes, educating them on the media landscape, social media and traditional media perception. Your role as an Senior Associate Director requires you to play a larger role in media relations/public relations for your respective teams as they have an increased media spotlight cast upon them. Ability to build relationships with your program(s) is non-negotiable to be successful in this position. You also will play a leadership role in the Athletics Communications Office, focused on quality control, best practices and finding solutions to complex problems.
Present at each of their events, you will be the primary contact between your assigned programs and Fighting Irish Media. You will manage the press box, media requests and interview opportunities for your student-athletes and coaches. As an expert with advanced knowledge in content creation and consumption behaviors, you will know how best to connect the stories your student-athletes are excited to help tell with the audience that craves their authentic voice.
Additionally, the Senior Associate Athletics Communications Director will work with the Advisor to the Director of Athletics, Senior Associate Athletics Director – Media, Brand & Communications and members of the athletics executive leadership on special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required (4 years)
- 3 to 4 years experience
- The individual should be an outstanding communicator and writer
- Experience with social media
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a collegiate and/or professional communications/content creation role desired, including managing media and statistics
- Proficiency in desktop publishing (InDesign) and stats software
